Welcome to

CodeWorks 2025!

CodeWorks is a career exploration program where Baltimore City youth ages 14-21 explore career pathways into technology through hands-on projects and collaboration with industry professionals.

Participants, called Tech Trainees, are paid for CodeWorks through a partnership with YouthWorks. More information and payment can be found on the Getting Paid and YouthWorks Information pages.

The goal of CodeWorks is
to nurture critical thinking skills, improve tech skills using industry-standard tools and provide young adults with a strong foundation for the workforce.

Reflection | Trainees start the day by connecting their CodeWorks experience to real-world applications. Guided by their managers, they explore how their tech track relates to the industry, link lessons to Industry Fridays, build portfolios, develop soft skills, and refine career interests.

Tech Track | Trainees are assigned to a track to gain hands-on experience in industry-recognized technology tools to develop solutions to real-world projects.

Portfolio Prep | Trainees will build a professional portfolio that highlights their projects, technical abilities, and career growth. This dedicated time allows them to refine their work, receive feedback, and prepare for future opportunities in tech.

Industry Fridays | Each Friday, Trainees engage in real-world industry experiences, including guest speaker panels, mini-showcases with industry judges, or field trips to local tech companies. These sessions provide valuable insights, networking opportunities, and a deeper understanding of career pathways in tech.

Showcase | Trainees will share their projects with their peers and community at the end of the program on August 8. This is an opportunity for Trainees to share what they have learned, reflect on the work they have done, and practice the communication and soft skills learned.

Lunch & Breakfast | Breakfast and lunch are offered on-site daily but CodeWorkers are welcome to leave the building to obtain lunch or bring their own from home (refrigeration is available).
