Welcome to CodeWorks 2024!
Policies and Procedures
Community Guidelines:
CodeWorks is a professional setting. Trainees are expected to adhere to the rules and guidelines outlined below in order to remain employed at CodeWorks. Continuous behavioral issues put you at risk for dismissal for this summer, and dismissed students may be barred from participating in CodeWorks in the future.
The following behaviors are not allowed:
Disrupting the class
Bullying
Disrespectful behavior
Not performing work duties as assigned
No cursing, slurs, or use of any derogatory language.
Refer to people with pronouns they identify as.
Step in, step out – do not dominate the conversation
Do not speak over people
Do not cut people off when they speak
Attack the idea, not the person
Behavior Policy:
The first instance of behavioral issues will result in a verbal warning from a manager or CITS staff member.
Repeated warnings or significant poor behavior will result in a written incident report. All incident reports are shared with YouthWorks and Trainee’s parent & guardian.
Two incident reports or gross misconduct will lead to a dismissal review between the Trainee, CITS supervisor and a parent & guardian to discuss whether or not the Trainee will be removed from CodeWorks.
Actions that can lead to termination includes but is not limited to the following:
Failure to follow instructions
Disrespectful and/or dishonest behavior
Falsifying information on time sheets or other official forms
Engaging in any activity that endangers the safety or lives of co-workers or supervisors (e.g., fighting, being physically or verbally abusive, bullying, or making threats)
Repeated lateness
No-Shows for the first 3 days of CodeWorks (July 8, 9, 10)
Use, sales, or possession of any narcotics drugs or alcoholic beverages while on the job or during a YouthWorks related activity.
Stealing or possession of stolen property while on the job or during a YouthWorks related activity
Attendance:
You are expected to show up to work on time every day.
Three unexcused absences leads to dismissal.
Being late two times in one week equals one unexcused absence.
Excused absences/tardiness due to illness, family emergencies, and pre-approved family vacations will be excused on a case-by-case basis.
If you are going to be late or absent, you must notify your work manager immediately.
If you are absent without notice, you must let your work manager know by 6 pm of the day you are absent. Failure to do so (unless extenuating circumstances exist) will result in an automatic unexcused absence.
Dress Code:
Casual attire is acceptable: Jeans, shorts, t-shirts, sneakers, sandals, etc.
We recommend bringing a light jacket or cardigan as the rooms occasionally get cold from A/C.
Please avoid the following:
Clothes that are too tight or too short
Clothes with inappropriate images and/or language
Overly ripped or torn pants
Flashy and/or expensive jewelry
Any student who violates the dress code will be given a verbal warning upon the initial violation. Any subsequent violations could be cause for work dismissal.
COVID 19 Guidelines:
If you are feeling sick please stay home and notify your manager. If you are well enough to work from home we will do our best to make virtual accommodations so you can still get your work hours in.
CodeWorks will follow CDC guidelines in regards to COVID-19. Please visit their website if you think you may have COVID-19 or have been exposed to Covid-19.
